Jeannie is a young cat I rescued one winter. She was pregnant and had four kittens, and Whitey was the only female. Thankfully the other three were adopted through the ARN.

Unfortunately I moved and I cannot keep all my cats, so I am placing these two younger ones for adoption. Jeannie is now 2 years old and Whitey is 16 months old. Whitey was the first-born; she was the most curious, alert and daring, a leader. These two are very fond of each other; they groom each other, play and sleep together. Their personalities are also similar except Whitey is more playful and fearless. Whitey likes to lie on top of you and give you long massages with her front paws (like when they are kittens and milking their mom).

She also likes to go under the bed covers and massage your legs until she falls asleep. She and Jeannie wake you by touching your face and arms with their paws. They are very social and are always around you, by the bed, near the computer, etc. They both like to be held although when you pick them up they show a little resistance but then they purr with pleasure as you caress them. For some strange reason, they both like to eat bread, so you always have to hide it!

Jeannie est une jeune chatte que j'ai sauvée un hivers passé. Elle était enceinte et elle a accouchée de quatre chatons, Whitey est la seule femelle de sa porté. Les trois autres chatons ont été adoptés avec l'aide de ARN.

Malheureusement je viens de déménager et je dois aussi faire adopter ces deux mère et fille. Jeannie est maintenant agée de 2 ans et Whitey de 18 mois. Whitey est la première née, elle est curieuse, alerte et brave, une chef. Les deux sont très proches, elles font leur toilette et dorment ensemble. Leurs personnalités sont très milaires sauf que Whitey est plus joueuse et téméraire. Whitey aime se coucher sur vous et vous donner de longs massages avec ses pattes avant (comme le font les chatons quand ils se nourrissent de leur mère).

Elle aime aussi aller sous les couvertures de lits pour masser vos pieds jusqu’à ce quelles se soient endormies. Elle et Jeannie vous réveille le matin en touchant votre visage et bras avec leurs pattes. Elles sont très sociables et se tiennent près de vous ou que vous soyer, près du lit, de l'ordinateur, etc. Elles aiment bien que l'on les prennes dans nos bras quoique qu'en premier elles peuvent résister mais elles ronronnent assez rapidement une fois que vous les caresser. Pour une raison inconnue elles aiment tous deux à manger du pain donc il faut toujours bien le cacher !

A volunteer at the shelter, Nicolas, was given a cat that was pregnant and she had four kittens on April 23rd. We still don't know their sex but will find out soon. Meanwhile, here are some pictures. They are also offered for adoption. The first picture is the mom.

Je met en ligne ces photos que j'ai prises des quatre chatons que ma chatte Jeanie a eue le 12 avril 2010. Jeanie est une jeune chatte errante que j'ai recueillie l'hiver passé, elle venait sentir dans ma cour arrière, je lui ai donné à manger et après plusieurs jours je l'ai accueillie dans ma maison. Après un certain temps elle a réussie à s'échapper de chez moi quand je sortait des sacs à vidange. Elle a été absente pour une journée complète, le lendemain je l'ai retrouvée mais comme il arrive fréquemment dans ce genre d'histoire elle était maintenant enceinte.
Ses chers bébés sont maintenant âgées de 5 semaines et sont superbes, magnifiques et en parfaite santé. Celles qui serai intéressées à en adopter un peuvent laisser un commentaire à cet effet ici. Dans le passé quand mes chats avaient des chatons je les donnait simplement à des personnes que je croyait être responsables et de bons parents adoptifs. Maintenant je suis un peu plus sélective et prévoyante en demandant 130$.
Ceci est pour m'assurer qu'ils ne soit pas abandonnés plus tard comme si elles deviennent enceintes à leur tour pour les femelles.
Le 130$ sert de crédit pour les vaccins et la stérilisation. Quand le chaton serra assez âgé, vers 6 mois je crois, je vous contacterai pour effectuer ces procédures. Si vous avez un vétérinaire qui fait ces choses pour moins cher c'est très bien, je vais y aller avec vous et vous rembourserai la différence à ce moment.

J'ai fait une série de photos pour chaque chaton, aussi je leur ai donné un nom temporaire en concordance avec la couleur prédominante de leur fourrure. Leurs yeux sont présentement bleus mais cela n'est pas définitif, la couleur véritable sera définie dans quelque semaines. Je vais ajouter de nouvelles photos à mesure qu'ils vieillissent.

Les chats seront prêt pour adoption quand ils auront 7-8 semaines d'age, ce qui va être dans 3-4 semaines d'aujourd'hui.
Donc si vous êtes intéressé dites le moi le plus tôt possible car j'ai déjà des demandes !

I am posting photos of the four kittens my cat Jeanie had on April 12, 2010. Jeanie is a young stray cat I rescued this winter, she came to my backyard to feed and I took her in. One day she ran out when I was taking out the garbage and I could not find her. I found her the next day... and as the story always goes, she came back pregnant. Her darling babies are now 5 weeks old and are perfectly beautiful, healthy and amazing. Those of you interested in adopting one can leave a comment here. In the past when my cats had kittens I simply gave them away to whom I thought were responsible and loving parents. Now I am wiser, and I do ask for $130 in order to ensure that the kittens are not later abandoned because they get pregnant. The $130 will go towards vaccine and sterilization. When the kitten is old enough (6 months I think) I will contact you and make arrangements to have these procedures done. If you have a veterinarian that will do it for less, that is fine, we can take him there and I will refund you whatever is left.

I made a post for each kitten. I gave them a temporary name according to the predominant colour of their fur. Their eyes are blue now but that is not definite, in a few weeks their true colour will develop. I will post new pictures as they grow.

The cats will be up for adoption when they are 7-8 weeks old, that is in 3-4 weeks from today, so if you are interested, let me know as I do have some requests already!

Present - Simbad

I adopted Simbad from the ARN in 2008. He is an extremely shy cat. He must have been abused as he is very frightened of people, hides most of the time. At first he did not get along with my other cats and I returned him to the shelter. Then a few months later I lost Sasha and Tontita and I decided that since they were gone I wanted Simbad to have a second chance at having a home, so I re-adopted him. He is still shy, but he gets along with the newer cats and I am happy to have given him a home he can call his own.

Present - Negrita

I adopted Negrita in October 2008 from the ARN. Her original name was Ursula, but I changed it because Negrita means "Little black one" in Spanish, and that is the name of the very first cat that came into my life and made me love cats forever. She is the sweetest of cats, very loving and reaches out to all the other cats that live with us or that are visiting. She has a habit of jumping on me, then cuddling by my neck, softly but firmly, rubbing her head against my neck to show affection.

It isn't easy taking photographs of Negrita, her black fur defies the camera most of the time, but I try my best.

Past - Merlin

Merlin was another cat I loved dearly and who was very close to my heart. He died a few months ago. He had been with me 14 years, He was shy, serious, sweet, a little angel, always giving way to other cats that came to the house, always gentle and patient. He died this year to join his very close friend, Sasha.

Past - Tontita

This is Tontita, a cat I rescued and that only lived with me a couple of years. She died two days before my Sasha. I have my regrets with her, I did not have the time to offer her all the love she deserved, she was very private but always very grateful for finding a home. I know she is now with my other cats who crossed the rainbow and that we will meet again and I will be able to show her how much I loved her too.

Sasha was the most wonderful cat I ever had and the closest to my heart. We bonded the very minute we looked into each others eyes. Sasha always looked in my eyes like no cat ever did, her eyes said, "We are one". We shared our lives nine short years. She died on September 30, 2008 and I miss her terribly. This blog is dedicated to her but also to all the wonderful animals that have shared and are sharing my life.
